For most businesses, the majority of visitors arrive on a phone, often on a patchy connection. A mobile-first website is designed for that reality first, then scaled up for larger screens.
The checklist
- Main content loads fast. Google’s Core Web Vitals treat a Largest Contentful Paint under 2.5 seconds as good.
- It responds quickly. Interaction to Next Paint under 200 milliseconds feels instant.
- Nothing jumps around. Keep Cumulative Layout Shift under 0.1 by setting image sizes.
- Text is readable without zooming, with good contrast.
- Buttons are easy to tap, with enough space between them.
- Call and WhatsApp are one tap away on every page.
- Images are optimised in modern formats like WebP or AVIF.
- Forms are short. Ask only for what you need.
- It speaks your customers’ language, with fonts that display every script correctly.
- It is secure. HTTPS everywhere, with a valid certificate.
How to test your site today
Open PageSpeed Insights, enter your address and look at the mobile results. Then open your site on an ordinary phone, switch to mobile data and try the most important task: calling you, booking or buying.
Fix the items that stop customers first. Speed and one-tap contact usually bring the biggest wins.
